Role Description:
 
The Director of Curriculum leads the strategic direction, modernization, and ongoing development of Redken’s education and training offerings. This role is responsible for architecting high-impact learning programs across brand launches, events, digital platforms, and ambassador initiatives.

The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design, strategic educational planning, digital learning integration, and high-profile event coordination to elevate educational standards and drive commercial success for artists, educators, and salon partners.

Key Responsibilities
 
Curriculum Strategy & Development
  • Architect & Organize: Lead the overall strategic structure, planning, and organization of Redken’s entire educational curriculum portfolio.
  • Modernize & Evolve: Continuously innovate, modernize, and update educational content to align with industry trends and new product innovations/launches.
  • Digital Integration: Seamlessly integrate modern digital elements and interactive learning tools into all traditional and hybrid curriculum assets.
  • Content Management: Maintain a centralized, organized, and up-to-date digital asset library for all curriculum materials.
  • Stakeholder Feedback & Alignment: Gather continuous feedback from key Artists and Regional Educators (REs) to evaluate program effectiveness and align leadership on key high-priority programs to elevate.
 
Curriculum Facilitation & Quality Assurance (Curriculum Training)
  • Train the Trainer: Lead train-the-trainer sessions to prepare internal and external teams to teach the Redken Curriculum effectively.
  • Quality Audit & Review: Attend select live class deliveries to observe instruction, evaluate reception of new programs, and gather actionable feedback for continuous content improvement.
 
Event Education & Show Execution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Events and Marketing teams to define, develop, and structure curriculum content for major events (e.g., mainstage shows, classroom workshops).
  • Talent Alignment: Recommend and align on the selection of featured Artists for key educational events.
  • Briefing & Content Prep: Create and refine event PowerPoint decks based on run-of-show flows, and brief participating Artists alongside the show production team.
  • On-Site Leadership & Coaching:
    • Partner with show execution teams (Show Callers, Backstage Teams) to set up on-site operations.
    • Serve on-site for key events to brief, guide, and coach education teams.
  • Post-Event Debrief: Lead debrief meetings following major events to capture key learnings and measure impact.
 
Salon Ambassador Program
  • Trainer Collaboration: Partner with the teams who lead the Salon Ambassador program to understand the needs and propose curriculum content
  • Curriculum Design: Oversee content development for the Salon Ambassador Program spanning both the induction phase and ongoing development tracks.
  • Ongoing Program Maintenance: Ensure Salon Ambassadors receive regular, standardized curriculum updates and enhancements with new launches and brand priorities. 

Qualifications & Competencies
  • Experience: 7–10+ years of experience in instructional design, educational strategy, curriculum development, or education leadership within the professional beauty or salon industry. Cosmetology license strongly preferred.
  • Instructional Design & Digital Learning: Deep expertise in developing multi-channel adult education curricula, blending physical classroom delivery with digital learning tech.
  • Event & Stage Production Literacy: Strong experience coordinating educational content for large-scale stage shows, hair events, and professional tradeshows.
  • Presentation & Presentation Design: High proficiency in structuring and designing executive-level presentations (PowerPoint) tailored to dynamic event flows.
  • Stakeholder & Artist Management: Exceptional interpersonal and coaching skills, with a proven ability to train, influence, and lead senior artists and brand educators.
  • Strategic Vision & Organization: Superior organizational skills with the ability to manage complex curriculum libraries and drive long-term educational strategy.
