Position Overview

The Director of Curriculum Development is responsible for leading the development of engaging and effective curriculum for our various learning modalities within the professions we serve. We are seeking a visionary and innovative individual responsible for staying on top of emerging trends to develop new educational topics. This role requires a forward-thinking individual who will develop and manage our future curriculum roadmap while also managing to enhance our current catalog of state-required courses. 

This position is part of the Valuation and Property Services division as Colibri which serves the professions of Appraisal, Home Inspection, Land Surveying, and Professional Engineering with high certification, professional learning and training products. Content and courses include but are not limited to, qualifying education (QE), exam preparation, continuing education (CE), training experiences including certification preparation and review courses, webinars, and other learning modalities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum development, adult education principles, curriculum design, project management, and leadership, with a passion for creating innovative learning experiences that will develop the professionals of tomorrow. 

What You'll Do

  • Stay informed about emerging topics, trends, and advancements in the professions we serve.  
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify educational priorities and strategic goals for curriculum development. 
  • Ensure all curriculum is compliant with state and professional regulations.  Identify any existing content gaps and develop curricula that meets the professional learners’ educational needs.
  • Networks, identifies, and recruits subject matter experts (SMEs) in various professions to author courses, professional development, and training content. Collaborates to identify new educational topics and areas of interest to certify and upskill.  
  • Develop and manage a future visionary curriculum roadmap, that aligns with emerging trends in education, instructional technology, and workforce needs to serve our various professions. 
  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum across various instructional formats, monitoring roadmap progress and ensuring deadlines are met. 
  • Provide guidance and support to the project manager responsible for bringing courses to market, ensuring alignment with project goals, budget, and timeline. 
  • Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to measure the impact of curriculum initiatives on student learning outcomes. 
  • Collaborates with marketing and sales to promote new educational topics and attract learners. Identifies, recruits, and vets subject matter expert (SME) contractors with an emphasis on developing a good rapport with authors, reviewers, and learners.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Curriculum Development, Project Management, or related field. 
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in curriculum development, higher education publishing, developing/editing/producing qualifying education (QE), continuing education (CE) or test-prep material, or related field. 
  • Strong understanding of current trends and advancements in education, instructional design, and pedagogy.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to think creatively, problem-solve, and anticipate future educational needs. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve project goals. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Experience in educational product development and bringing courses to market. 
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and methodologies.
  • Passion for education, commitment to delivering high-quality educational products, and promoting lifelong learning. 
  • Background in any or all professions Colibri serves a plus, including appraisal, professional engineering, home inspection, and/or land surveying.
