The Director of Financial Affairs, Purdue University Online will direct the management of finances and business services to support initiatives and operations for the Online area reporting to the Senior Vice President for Partnerships and Online at the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University. This position supports in excess of $70M of gross revenue generated by online credit and non-credit programs.
The position will be a strategic partner to provide advice and counsel to the Senior Vice President and the respective leadership team concerning initiatives and their financial impact. This position will be responsible for providing analysis and business support including, but not limited to, budget preparation and analysis, financial management reporting for operational needs, revenue forecasting and long-term planning, and leading business improvement projects to ensure efficient, effective management of financial activities.
This position will provide positive, forward-thinking leadership for a strong financial team including one Business Manager, one Financial Analyst, and two Business Assistants to provide quality and efficient service.
The position will take initiative, prioritize critical strategic and operational needs, be responsible for development of rates within the unit, provide authorization and approval for business activities and financial transactions, as well as providing proper interpretation of University, Federal and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of experience in business management, finance or related field
- Experience managing others
Skills needed:
- Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures
- Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills and ability to solve complicated problems with little or no precedential guidance
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, communication (oral & written), problem-solving, organizational, project management, process management, and customer service skills
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork to successfully guide the work of others
- Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes (e.g. SAP, etc.)
- Personal computer and related software skills (spreadsheet, word processing, internet, database, etc.)
What is helpful:
- Preferred degree in Finance, accounting, business administration or related field
- An advanced degree or certification such as an MBA or CPA is desired
