McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational solutions, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant.
This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.
What you will be doing:
- Prepare book/tax differences and supporting workpapers and attachments to complete and e-file the Company’s annual consolidated Federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, and extensions.
- Reconcile and import general ledger trial balances into income tax software for provision and compliance.
- Assist with forecasting taxable income and tax attributes for cash flow and valuation allowance analyses.
- Run queries of balances and analyze transactional activity for tax sensitive general ledger accounts and reporting/consolidation systems.
- Assist with calculation of current and deferred income tax provision and effective tax rate, and support VP Tax Reporting response to external audit requests.
- Prepare quarterly income tax payable roll-forwards, summaries of cash taxes paid and reconcile income and sales tax general ledger accounts.
- Assist international and state tax teams in calculation of quarterly income tax provisions, as needed.
- Support preparation of journal entries for quarterly and annual tax provisions
- Respond to notices and information requests from tax authorities, including IRS and state/local.
- Organize documentation for Sarbanes Oxley Sec 404 testing.
- Support sales tax return preparation by outsourced compliance provider.
- Assist other members of the Tax Department as needed and as available.
- Monitor Tax Department operating expenses and assist with procurement and payments.
What you need to be considered:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting. Advanced degree a plus.
- CPA exam.
- 2- 4 years of tax experience preferably with a public accounting firm.
- Advanced Excel user, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Familiarity with:
- Corporate tax software such as Tax Technology /Tax Series (preferred), CorpTax, or OneSource;
- General ledger and financial reporting/consolidation systems (Oracle, TM1, etc.); and
- Data and analytics platforms such as Alteryx.

The pay range for this position is between $65,000 - $120,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Additionally, a full range of medical and/or other benefits may be provided, depending on the position offered. Click
