What You'll Do::
The Director of Financial Aid (DFA) leads the campus Financial Aid department, overseeing a team of Financial Aid Officers. This role provides leadership through team meetings, coaching and professional development while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance. The DFA is responsible for achieving strong financial aid outcomes and improvement of key metrics related to student and service levels.
Essential Functions:
Team Leadership and Development
- Build and maintain high-performing teams by hiring, training and retaining top talent.
- Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance technical and soft skills.
- Utilize business intelligence analytics to ensure adherence to service-level agreements.
- Improve communication through quality assurance activities and coaching techniques.
- Monitor outreach efforts (phone, email, text) to ensure expectations are met and properly documented.
Financial Aid Operations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes for greater efficiency.
- Oversee outstanding balance recovery strategies and ensure proactive outreach for resolution.
- Analyze data and metrics to drive performance improvements and meet organizational goals.
- Conduct internal audits and provide coaching to ensure regulatory compliance.
Financial Aid Administration and Student Support
- Counsel students and families on Title IV funding, institutional loans, agency assistance, Federal Work-Study, and scholarships.
- Ensure students receive all financial aid for which they qualify while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.
- Monitor financial aid awards for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support students by addressing inquiries via email, telephone, and other communication methods.
- Oversee payment plans and ensure timely, accurate billing in coordination with finance and student services.
Strategic Engagement and Collaboration
- Develop a strategic vision in collaboration with senior Financial Aid leadership to drive annual goals and key initiatives.
- Partner with cross functional teams to ensure transparency, collaboration, and holistic decision-making.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives focused on enhancing student experience.
- Manage special projects that support continuous improvement within the Financial Aid department.
- Work closely with Campus Leadership and Regional Director of Financial Aid (RDFA) to optimize department efficiency.

What We Need From You::
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must have:
- High School Diploma.
- At least three (3) years of experience in Title IV aid administration, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience leading a team.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion dealing with confidential information.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to enroll in NSLDS.
Nice to have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Working knowledge of financial literacy and student loan repayment options.
