This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).   Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Overview: The Director of Instructional Design Learning and Content Curation will be responsible for developing the strategy and creation of persistent learning journeys across Claims and Operations. This individual will lead the creation of a suite of customized programs to meet ongoing training needs and develop learning pathways.

This role translates talent development needs, skills, and leadership gaps into learning solutions that build enterprise capability to achieve business performance goals, profitable growth, superior customer experience, and excellence in execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Lead a team of four Assistant Learning Directors who oversee teams of Instructional Designers and Content Curators.
  • Strategic Consultation: Partner with line of business leadership and HR Business Partners to identify learning gaps aligned with strategic business priorities. Curate and deploy learning solutions to drive business results.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with peers in Talent and Learning to ensure alignment of learning solutions with strategic projects and career progression.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage project plans, monitor progress towards goals, oversee budgets, identify risks and mitigation plans, forecast future training needs, and provide executive status updates.
  • Networking and Benchmarking: Foster professional networks and benchmark peers to stay updated on best practices and trends in learning.
  • Interactive Learning: Ensure the team uses an interactive adult learning approach and design philosophy to quickly respond to business needs.
  • Career-long Learning Pathways: Create career-long learning pathways to establish a staff with transferable skills.
  • Dynamic Design: Responsible for dynamic and agile design that incorporates realistic practice with theory.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in instructional design, learning, and content curation required
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience required, Insurance/Financial Services Industry a plus
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adult learning theory experience a plus
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including business leaders and HR partners.
  • ADKAR, change management experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices and trends in learning and development.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$128,480 - $192,720
