Description of Work  | Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources this position oversees the payroll operations of UNL and IANR. Ensures compliance with Board of Regents, university policies/procedures and state, federal and IRS laws, rules and regulations. Focuses on strategic direction, policy issues, process/procedures and internal controls. Establish Payroll policies and procedures. Provide direction and support for new initiatives and program changes. Direct/manage staff on operations. Participate and support u-wide Human Resources initiatives. Represent UNL and Payroll on select UNL initiatives, special projects, on u-wide committees and Big10 committees.

Minimum Required Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, human resource management, business, or related field. Seven years of experience in payroll management, human resource management, finance, or accounting. Experience supervising or managing staff. Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal communication. Knowledge of regulations, policies, standards, labor laws and/or federal tax laws governing payroll processes.

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree in finance, accounting, human resource management, business, or related field. Payroll, or accounting, or human resource experience in higher education. Knowledge of SAP or related HR/Payroll systems. Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced work environment.
