Job Description
About the Opportunity
The Director of Professional Learning & Talent Programs will lead and champion the vision for excellence in professional learning through quality design and execution of the onboarding and professional learning for key roles in KIPP Texas, at scale.  The DPLTP will manage the recommended leader professional learning scope and sequence and collaborate with other departments on design and execution with year-long cohesion to support and operationalize instructional coaching and competency development in our school-based teachers and leaders.  The DPLTP will also lead the systematic process of identifying, nurturing, and advancing school-based leaders within an organization to fill current and future roles effectively.  They will actively oversee the progress of individuals in the talent pipeline, tracking their development, providing support and resources as needed, and ensuring that there is alignment between the organization's strategic goals and the skills and capabilities of individuals in the pipeline.

Key Duties
  1. Professional Learning Vision & Implementation: Oversee the preparation, execution and in-field follow up of professional learning aligned to the KIPP Texas Academic Strategy setting vision for teacher Summer and in-year Professional Learning; coordinating multi-tiered professional learning for instructional leaders and teachers grounded in instruction, pedagogy, and content.
  2. Professional Learning Design & Execute:  Lead the design and facilitation of session content grounded in instruction, pedagogy, and content; coordinate with other functional teams on session design to ensure high-quality content aligned to adult learning principles.
  3. Professional Learning Project Management: Project manage professional learning experiences designed by the Academics team including but not limited to Summer Professional Learning, Leader and Teacher Intensives, Professional Learning days, and Wednesday PLCs.
  4. Monitor Outcomes: Set vision on and tracking success metrics  to support with progress of PL session execution and mastery of content
  5. Cross-departmental partnerships: Manage key partnership relationships with internal partners in service of executing a clear, comprehensive Cohesive Professional Learning strategy.
  6. Team Management: As needed, build a results-driven, mission-oriented team culture for any direct reports through establishing a clear vision for success; hire, build, develop and retain strong performers; demonstrate clear, concise direction, feedback, and coaching; hold direct reports accountable for meeting targets and adjusting course as necessary in pursuit of goals.
  7. Team Leader: serve as a key leader on the greater Professional Learning team; collaborate with team leaders to enhance state-wide strategy and evolve in service of the pursuit of transforming student results and eventually serving 100,000 KIPPsters in KIPP schools state-wide
     
Additional Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Provide exemplary support to clients, including SSP leaders, school management teams and Assistant Principals/Principals in service of instruction, pedagogy, and content development on campuses.    
  2. Serves as an organizational leader on academic strategy, providing insight and expertise to strategic planning as well as organizational values-driven initiatives and plans.
  3. Operate with exemplary team spirit with eagerness to demonstrate flexibility and contribute to the overall needs of the team as they arise.

Qualifications
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of teaching pk-12 with a strong record of results, 2+ years designing and facilitating adult training, 2+ years in roles involving instructional coaching required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading through change, executing on major initiatives, and leading cross-departmental work
  • Demonstrated excellence in designing professional learning
  • Demonstrated orientation to streamlining cross-departmental needs in service of end-use experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in professional learning design and project management
  • Demonstrated achievement in partnership development, including an ability to mobilize people and create champions to support an organizational mission
  • Evidence of developing and executing against a strategy with strong results
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
