Position Description:
The School of Technology for Public Health at Arizona State University is looking for a socially embedded and highly organized service-based leader to become the inaugural Director of the Public Health Technology (PHT) Corps.
The Director of the PHT Corps will collaborate with community and cross-sector partners in Arizona and beyond to deliver real-world placements that build student job readiness, while creating sustainable impact, and strengthening public health. In addition to leading and growing all Corps operations, the Director will serve as the primary liaison between the graduate and undergraduate students, community placement sites, and cross-sector partners in Arizona and beyond. In addition to matching students to partner sites, the Director will be ensure that projects are appropriate, feasible, and timely; secure necessary agreements are in place; verify that students meet any pre-requisites or obtain prior authorizations; track progress and when necessary; monitor progress and intervene early to resolve issues and maintain partner trust, document and report out-of-state placements for compliance, lead planning for the culminating showcase event; and track, measure, and communicate outcomes data for accreditation and leadership purposes.
About the program: The Public Health Technology (PHT) Corps serves as the applied practice experience for the Master of Public Health degree and applied capstone project for the Master of Science in Public Health Technology. It provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training on real world public health topics with community and cross-sector partners, including but not limited to government agencies, health systems, insurance payors, health tech companies, and community-based organizations. In equitable and principled collaboration with partner organizations, students will co-develop and advance non-academic, applied projects that evaluate the public health ecosystem as it related to technologies and leverage technology to improve public health processes, systems and outcomes. Public health technology scholars enhance their research and design skills and data-reporting abilities and benefit from extensive networking opportunities and avenues for professional development. And they can create long-lasting professional relationships within a cohort of like-minded Sun Devils dedicated to driving innovation and making a positive impact.
Position Salary Range:
- $61,400 to $85,000 annually
- The salary offered will depend on experience.
Essential Duties:
- Oversee and grow the portfolio of partners and student placement sites in Arizona and beyond.
- Build and implement standard processes and procedures for operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain trust with partner organizations through constant communication and service-based leadership.
- Match students to appropriate partner sites and projects.
- Ensure all necessary agreements are in place between the partner sites and the university.
- Work with students to understand and meet any pre-requisites or obtain necessary authorizations if applicable (e.g., background checks, security clearances, drug tests, vaccinations) in a timely manner so there are no delays or issues with onboarding or project kick-off.
- Work with students to improve their professional development skills within diverse settings (including oral and written communication, interpersonal effectiveness, time management, and other aspects tied to professionalism).
- Track projects to ensure they are progressing smoothly, and if needed, help students problem solve, pivot, and resolve issues.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Three or more years of managerial experience.
- Five or more years of related experience in student-facing roles at the university level, such as advising or student success.
- Proven record of building and sustaining partnerships with government agencies, health systems, insurers, health tech firms, or community-based organizations.
- Hands-on experience designing and running placement workflows, including site vetting, crafting agreements, overseeing risk management, and compliance for pre-placement requirements such as background checks, immunizations, state approvals, and/or security clearances.
- Strong project management skills with evidence of creating protocols, tracking multiple projects at once, and keeping tasks on time.
- Fluency in data management to track outcomes, produce dashboards and reports, and translate results for accreditation, leadership, and community stakeholders.
- A service-driven leader with excellent interpersonal effectiveness skills.
- Highly organized individual with a proven track record of managing projects with multiple partners and moving parts.
- Ability to multitask, keeping track of and advancing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously in ways that ensure timely completion of work.

Working Environment:
- In-person/on-campus work is required.
- Expected to be responsive to customers, flexible, and respectful of others.
- Expect prolonged periods of exposure to a computer screen.
- Computer, phone, and in-person interaction in a fast-paced office environment with long periods of sitting
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities.
