Job Description
The Senior Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) serves as the district leader responsible for setting the strategic direction, vision, implementation and accountability systems for all CTE programming across secondary schools, including dual credit offerings. This role provides senior-level leadership to ensure that CTE pathways are high-quality, equitable, and aligned with workforce, postsecondary, and state priorities. The Senior Director leads a statewide team of CTE directors, coordinators, and specialists to design, scale, and sustain industry-aligned pathways that prepare every student for success in college, career, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership and Vision:
○ Develop and execute a multi-year strategic plan for CTE that aligns to district goals, state accountability (Perkins V, CCMR, TIA), and regional workforce needs.
○ Drive innovation in CTE program design, ensuring pathways reflect high-wage, high-demand industries.
○ Advise district leadership and Board on CTE expansion, outcomes, and policy implications.
2. Program Quality and Accountability:
○ Establish clear quality standards and performance metrics for all CTE programs of study.
○ Oversee data systems for tracking student concentrator/completer status, IBC attainment, dual credit enrollment, and work-based learning participation.
○ Lead statewide program evaluations and audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
○ Plan and coordinate professional development opportunities for CTE teachers and specialists to enhance their effectiveness instructionally.
3. Budget Management:
○ Oversee federal and state CTE funding (Perkins V, grants, and special allocations) to ensure compliance and maximize impact.
○ Align budgets with strategic priorities, ensuring equitable resource distribution across campuses and pathways.
4. Policy and Compliance:
○ Ensure districtwide compliance with state and federal CTE regulations, including TEA program approval, service ID alignment, and PEIMS accuracy.
○ Develop policies, frameworks, and guidance documents to standardize CTE implementation across schools.
○ Prepare and present reports to senior leadership, board members, and state agencies.
5. Leadership and Supervision:
○ Supervise and coach state-level CTE team members.
○ Build team capacity through professional learning, goal- setting, and aligned performance measures.
○ Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across campuses and regions.
6. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
○ Build and maintain trust with internal and external stakeholders through transparent communication and collaborative decision-making.
○ Lead the district’s CTE advisory committees and ensure diverse representation from business, industry, and postsecondary partners.
○ Communicate program impact through data stories, dashboards, and public reports.
7. Innovation and Future-Ready Design:
○ Promote cross-sector collaboration between STEM, arts, and workforce pathways.
○ Develop scalable models for middle-to-high school alignment, career exposure, and early college experiences.
8. Workforce Development:
○ Serve as the district’s primary liaison to workforce boards, higher education institutions, and industry partners.
○ Develop systemwide partnerships that expand work-based learning, dual credit, and certification opportunities.
○ Represent the district in regional and state CTE advisory councils, chambers, and workforce initiatives.

Qualifications
Education and Knowledge:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Certified CTE teacher
● Experience leading CTE at the district level
● Preferred experience and network with workforce and institutes of higher education
