North Carolina State University is hiring a Director of Public Relations. The role leads public relations efforts to shape and protect the university's reputation statewide and beyond, develops strategic communications for high-visibility priorities, and manages issues and crisis communications in collaboration with university leadership and communications teams.
Highlights
Lead public relations efforts that promote and protect NC State's reputation locally, regionally, and nationally.
Develop strategic communication plans, including messaging for the Chancellor and executive-level communicators.
Manage the university's issues management program by anticipating and responding to potential challenges.
Collaborate with internal teams across media relations, research communications, social media, digital, marketing, and creative units.
Contribute to media training programs and act as a communications consultant to leadership, faculty, and staff.
Requires Bachelor’s degree and minimum three years related experience including supervisory or lead capacity.
Experience handling crisis communications, sensitive issues, and delivering messages under tight deadlines.
Preferred experience includes understanding of research university environments with national and international impact.
Position is full-time, 12-month appointment within University Communications and Marketing department.
