Your Impact

In this role, you will:

Work closely with the Institute for Biomedical Informatics and the Center for Computational Sciences to identify and support the evolving needs of researchers. Implement cutting-edge, scalable solutions that enhance computational research capabilities while fostering innovation. Develop and manage a cost-effective infrastructure, leveraging commercial cloud solutions when applicable. Lead a highly skilled team of technical staff, consultants, and students, ensuring smooth operations and strategic development. Collaborate with UK’s ITS leadership to maximize efficiency and improve research productivity across the university.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities  | An established record of accomplishments demonstrated by engagement with researchers and users as well as extensive experience with managing, operating and delivering research cyberinfrastructure services. In-depth understanding of research cyberinfrastructure landscape and demonstrated experience with processes for procurement, deployment, and operation. Strong organizational skills. Track record of successfully managing complex projects involving vendors, software developers, IT staff, and research stakeholders. Strong data analysis skills and ability to identify process issues and resolve them through policy, procedures, and software checks. Excellent program-development skills for creating and developing innovative services and tools. Ability to analyze and assess needs in research computing administration. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a commitment to high-quality customer service. Capable of implementing and managing the operational aspects of a Research Computing Infrastructure, including the development of standards and expectations.

Preferred Education/Experience  | Doctoral level degree completed or nearing completion, in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, information systems, or extensive / advanced computational science & research computing, and network management job experience preferred.

Network Certification preferred (e.g., Cisco, CCIE)
