Position Summary:
Direct the business affairs of the Office of the Secretary, which functions as the administrative arm of the Secretary of the University; maintains custody of the seal, charter, and bylaws of the University; and is responsible for ensuring accurate records of the proceedings of the Board of Trustees and the University Senate. Play a crucial role in the preparation for and execution of successful and purposeful Trustee and Senate meetings, working with senior leadership to organize Trustee and Senate related matters in line with the University’s strategic priorities. Serve as the principal aide and liaison to the Secretary and General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel/Associate Secretaries, the Office of the President, and other designees with Office of the Secretary duties relating to the Board of Trustees to ensure smooth functioning of all Board of Trustees operations. Oversee and manage the preparation for University Senate meetings. Serve as a key relationship partner and trusted liaison to the Board of Trustees, the General Counsel/Secretary, the Office of the President, the University Senate, University administrative offices, and other senior University stakeholders to foster effective relations and relationships in support of shared organizational goals and outcomes. Supervise staff. The Board and Senate functions of the role have a dual reporting structure to the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
Required Experience:
7+ years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience supporting senior executives and/or Board members, planning and implementing various activities and special events, managing support staff, developing and implementing office policies, and administering budgets and operations.
Preferred Experience:
7+ years relevant experience in an academic or corporate environment.

Proven ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Strong organizational, interpersonal, influence, and problem solving skills, including the ability to apply critical reasoning, creativity, and flexibility to develop and implement holistic and actionable solutions to complex work situations. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and interpret policies and procedures and effectively communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population. Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and ability to maintain confidences are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Additional Information:
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $150,000.00 to USD $190,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
