Role Summary
Compass Surgical Partners is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Training & Development to build and lead a comprehensive training function that supports the continued growth and excellence of our organization. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing learning and development programs across our network of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and corporate teams.

This role requires a collaborative leader who can translate business needs into learning solutions, partner with cross-functional teams, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning. The Director will oversee the creation of content, delivery methods, and infrastructure needed to support onboarding, role-specific training, leadership development, and ongoing performance improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Lead Enterprise Training Programs
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring learning solutions are relevant, practical, and accessible to employees across all levels
  • Collaborate with leaders across clinical, operations, and corporate functions to identify training needs and implement solutions that enhance individual and team performance
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of core content, including onboarding programs, compliance training, and operational procedures

Support Center-Level Operational Training
  • Partner with Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) leadership and functional teams to build structured training programs for key operational roles, including administrators, nurses, and business office staff
  • Support the launch and management of the ASC Administrator Academy, providing curriculum development, facilitation, and ongoing refinement based on center needs
  • Ensure training is aligned with clinical, regulatory, and operational standards, and that staff have the tools and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality care

Lead Leadership Development Initiatives
  • Develop leadership training programs that support the growth of current and emerging leaders across the organization
  • Build programs that focus on core leadership competencies, team development, and change management
  • Partner with People Services (HR) to align leadership development with succession planning and performance management strategies

Establish Scalable Learning Infrastructure
  • Select and implement a learning management system (LMS) to centralize access to learning resources and track participation
  • Develop supporting materials such as job aids, playbooks, and self-guided modules to reinforce learning in day-to-day operations
  • Create tools and systems that support a culture of self-directed learning, peer knowledge sharing, and continuous skill development

Collaborate Cross-Functionally to Strengthen Learning Culture
  • Serve as an internal consultant and thought partner to functional leaders to ensure training is integrated into business planning
  • Create regular feedback loops to evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and make data-informed improvements
  • Promote a culture of learning that reflects Compass’s STAR values and supports both individual and organizational growth

What You’ll Bring
  • 7–10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, with proven success leading enterprise training functions in healthcare or similar industries
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and hybrid learning delivery methods
  • Experience selecting and managing learning platforms, including LMS administration and content management
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and levels
  • A practical understanding of healthcare operations and the training needs of both clinical and non-clinical roles
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to support onsite training and engage with teams across the organization
