About the Role:

Editorial Data Analysts across Business Analytics & Enablement develop and maintain data tools and requirements in alignment with Research Publishing and Wiley data standards. Analyzing data across products, platforms, and services, Editorial Data Analysts influence core performance and manage expectations to set benchmarks and KPIs. Providing data solutions and taking forward data projects, Editorial Data Analysts collaborate closely with other parts of the business and a wide range of stakeholders, with a primary focus on Editorial Excellence, Comprehensive Editorial Evaluation, and Publishing Development.

Editorial Data Analysts assess performance across the manuscript management ecosystem from submission to decision and export to Content Operations. They are responsible for scrutinizing performance of our products, platforms, and services against relevant KPIs and targets, and they create feedback insights via reporting to drive continuous improvement.

Editorial Data Analysts bring an analytical mindset, enjoy data discovery, find comfort and control in modelling and visualization, and are able to leverage data and analytical techniques to showcase Business Analytics & Enablement's value.

What you'll do

Generate performance reports

  • Generate and review product/service/platform reports and dashboards and share across with relevant Research Publishing stakeholders
  • Support and maintain Research Publishing's specific data tools and ensure alignment across different editorial models.
  • Capture and collate performance data to assist with informed decision making.
  • Support analysis to Research Publishing stakeholders and present data in a considered manner.

Assess and influence performance of product (journal,

service, or platform) through data insights

  • Monitor and analyze performance of platform/product/service/feature, both BAU and in periods of hypervigilance after a release or other change
  • Monitor performance of portfolio/journal/articles against agreed targets for KPIs or performance benchmarks and analyze performance trends
  • Collaborate closely with Peer Review Performance Managers, Editorial Vendor Manager, and in-house editors on performance of journal/service

Maintain superior data integrity management approach

  • Monitor data integrity. Trouble-shoot integrity concerns, test, and work with relevant stakeholders to innovate and provide solutions to analytical and data validity issues to optimize sound and aligned end-to-end data management.
  • Maintain documentation of activities in line with DP&I's documentation framework, to enable understanding, reproducibility, and discoverability.
  • Decide whether to take action or not on analysis or data points (i.e., is this impactful/significant enough to share)
  • Decide who needs to know about particular analysis or data points (e.g., does this insight fuel different training needs, does this insight reveal gaps in documentation, etc)
  • Provide assessment/analytical support to inform maintain/sunset/optimize decisions

What We're Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in maths, statistics, computer science, engineering, or other technical fields . Completed course projects focused on data analytics .
  • 1-2 years relevant or transferable experience .Knowledge of and experience in data analytics. Methodologies including data cleaning and data exploration. Understanding of Research Publishing platforms/products/services.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills. Passionate about data analytics and eager to learn new skills in the field.
  • SQL development experience (Intermediate to advanced). BI dashboard development experience (Intermediate to advanced).Experienced in data analysis. Expert user of Microsoft Excel. Experience in identifying trends and anomalies in datasets. Experience in data storytelling. Experience in using PowerBI. Background using statistical packages/tools such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc. and programming languages such as Python and R to evaluate, and analyze data across multiple domains. Experience in utilizing Microsoft  Power Automate.
