Electronic Resources Data Analyst I for JFL Full Description

The primary purpose of this position will be to support the Jerry Falwell Library through data analysis for improved decision making. This position will work to develop technical requirements and comprehensive solutions to extract and manage data from multiple internal and external source systems to ensure accurate and clear understanding of library usage and trends. This position is expected to understand the importance of balancing project requirements and user feedback while also performing data analysis using various tools and techniques.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyst I
  • Able to perform the following tasks:
    • Analyze and advise management of workflow issues and data integrity problems and offer recommendations on resolution.
    • Support library departments with data collection and reporting
    • Design and present statistical data to support resource assessment and annual reports, such as IPEDS and SACS.
    • Compile and analyze usage of electronic resources and supports renewal planning.
    • Interpret and normalize data from industry standard usage statistic frameworks including SUSHI and COUNTER
  • Create and maintain procedural documentation related to responsibilities and duties of the position.
  • Consistently display excellent customer service through positive interaction and communication with other JFL departments, library customers, and other LU departments as needed.
  • Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
Analyst II
  • Proficiency in the functions and responsibilities of the Analyst I position.
  • Able to perform the following tasks:
    • Understand University systems and data sets.
    • Able to summarize and describe raw data sets for departmental consumption.
    • Validate data and its description throughout various parts of the workflow, from source systems to final outputs
    • Perform analysis of data that aligns to organizational goals and relays business impacts of findings through sound data driven recommendations.
    • Deliver recommendations to library administration that communicates business impact and alignment with organizational goals.
Analyst III
  • Proficiency in the functions and responsibilities of the Analyst I and II positions.
  • Operationalize key findings, insights, and recommendations.
  • Create and maintain dashboards for various audiences, including collections and management

Education and Experience 
Analyst I
Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrate significant proficiency with Excel
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Two years of relevant experience

  • Master's degree or graduate status
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools
  • Experience with dashboard platforms such as Tableau
  • Academic library experience
     
Analyst II
Required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerBI, or SQL
  • Demonstrated proficiency with report writing tools such as Argos, SSRS, or Tableau
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and reporting.

Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.  The working environment also includes the facilitation of occasional outdoor events.
