At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA
- Schedule: 10 hours a month; 2 sessions a week for 1.25 hours
- Pay rate is between $25-$35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong academic background in elementary literacy and math instruction
- Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and foundational skill development
- Patient, calm, and professional with a nurturing and supportive teaching style
- Skilled in reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, sight words, writing, and handwriting support
- Able to teach foundational math concepts, math word problems, and executive functioning strategies
- Comfortable supporting language development, communication skills, and social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Familiar with using visual supports, guided practice, and step-by-step instruction
- Creative and engaging while maintaining a structured and encouraging learning environment
- Strong ability to build rapport and confidence with sensitive learners
- Able to incorporate movement, creativity, and student interests into lessons to maintain engagement
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support in foundational reading, writing, and math skills
- Strengthen reading fluency, reading comprehension, phonics, sight word recognition, and vocabulary development
- Support writing and handwriting skills using guided practice, modeling, and structured activities
- Reinforce foundational math concepts, word problems, and problem-solving strategies
- Incorporate executive functioning and organization strategies into sessions
- Support language and communication development through interactive and engaging instruction
- Integrate social-emotional learning strategies to build confidence, self-regulation, and participation
- Use calm, patient, and encouraging approaches to help reduce frustration and build trust
- Incorporate student interests such as dance and gymnastics into lessons when appropriate to increase motivation
- Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs and responsiveness
