Job Description

We’re seeking an Engagement Coordinator to join the VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. Here’s what you need to know about the role:

• You’ll join the VT Engage team: a center focused on leadership, service learning, civic engagement, and food access to equip civic leaders to create a more just world.
• You’ll report to the Assistant Director in a Regular, twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
• You’ll be responsible for supporting alternative break trips and student leaders, creating new programming to promote engagement with the Virginia Tech and surrounding community, collaboratively working with faculty and staff to support service learning efforts at Virginia Tech, manage co-curricular trips and programming, co-advise a student organization, and share the good work of VT Engage with the community.
• You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
• You’ll be offered a compensation salary package between $43,888 - $50,000 with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Demonstrated commitment to public and/or community service.
• Experience with volunteer management and coordinating service learning events.
• Experience facilitating group discussions and using written and oral reflection to promote learning.
• Demonstrated commitment to issues and initiatives related to social justice, inclusion, and diversity.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in higher education administration, public affairs, leadership education, or a related field.
• Evidence of effective partnership development and management.
• Knowledge of the New River Valley’s nonprofit and social service sectors.
• Experience developing partnerships with student affairs areas and community-based organizations.
• Knowledge of assessment of student learning and/or community impact.
