The Role
We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a versatile and high-performing squad. You’ll manage a multi-platform team (Web, iOS, Android) known for picking up complex projects, ramping fast, and crossing the finish line. You’ll be responsible for the “how” of delivery, unblocking engineers, driving technical decisions, and keeping quality high, while still getting into the code yourself.
This is a player-coach role for someone who’s excited to mentor others, level up engineering practices, and dive into code when needed. We’re not looking for a full-time manager. We’re looking for a builder who happens to be great at leading.
We work fast, use AI to accelerate everything we do, and deploy to production constantly behind feature flags. You’ll help shape how this team delivers high-leverage projects across the company.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a cross-platform squad of 5 engineers (Web, iOS, Android)
- Spend ~30% of your time writing production code
- Unblock engineers and help them make good default technical decisions
- Drive execution across multiple areas (e.g. payments, migrations, pricing tools)
- Coach and grow engineers through feedback, 1:1s, and career development
- Hire and onboard new engineers
- Hold a high bar for quality, velocity, and simplicity in how we build
- Contribute to planning and roadmap conversations with Product & Design
- Push for tight feedback loops and small, frequent releases
- Be a technical sounding board and escalation path for your team
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years as an engineer and at least 1+ year managing or mentoring other engineers
- Actively technical: comfortable jumping into a PR, debugging, or pair programming
- Experience with Web, iOS, or Android (cross-platform fluency is a plus, not required)
- Bias to action, clarity, and forward progress
- Strong communicator who can manage up, down, and across
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, defaulting to high-judgment decisions
- Excited about how AI can be used to improve engineering productivity
Who You Are
- You enjoy coding, and don’t see management as “getting out of the weeds”
- You believe in fast cycles, feature flags, and building trust through execution
- You take responsibility for unblocking and enabling others
- You’re calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-moving environment
- You’ve got strong opinions, loosely held—and you’re open to change
- You’d rather deliver value this week than write a 10-page doc about it
Compensation: The base salary for this role ranges from $120,000–$200,000 USD, with exact compensation based on location, experience, and cost of living.
