Department SummaryThe mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position OverviewThis position is part of the Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and the Department of Testing and Evaluation Services. This position supports UNTHSC students and academic departments with a wide variety of student assessment (examination/testing) activities including creating and administering assessments. This position fosters student success by ensuring student knowledge is effectively measured and academic curricular goals are achieved.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExceptional Customer Service skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work on multiple projects with varying deadlines in a high paced, time-sensitive, accuracy-essential environment.Strong computer skills and proficiency with a wide range of software programs including: Word, Excel, and database management tools and experience with MacBooks is a plus.
Preferred QualificationsA highly organized self-starter and an independent thinker with the ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees, faculty, and staff.Ability to set and adhere to strict deadlines.Experience in support roles, interacting with clients from multiple levels of an organization.Experience in an academic support environment is preferable. Experience supporting and interacting with university faculty, students, and administration is a plus.Experience administering and scoring examinations, and interpreting/explaining the results of student assessment data is a plus.Confidence speaking before large groups.

Job Duties:Support academic departments with the entry of assessment items, creation of assessments, posting and delivering assessments, and reporting assessment results to faculty and students.Manage student assessment related databases, including computer based item banks. Provide updated item banks and assessment data reports as needed.Manage the student assessment calendar. Communicate with academic programs and students regarding overall testing schedule and makeup assessmentsProvide support for all assessments including proctor support when needed. Process scantron based assessments. This will require a basic knowledge of computer operations and a willingness to learn new technology.Maintain official gradebook for academic courses, including tracking of student absences and makeup procedures, applying assessment penalties as applicable based on program procedures, and processing final course reports. Communicating with academic programs for final grade approval, communicating with the Registrars Office regarding grades to be uploaded, and notifying students of final grades.Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:Communicating with others to exchange information.Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.

Work Schedule:Monday – Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events. Occasionally required to come in before 8:00 am to set up on exam days.
