Essential Job Functions  | The Empowering Teacher Learning Program, housed within College Access Partnerships at Appalachian State University, seeks qualified educators to review microcredential submissions on the Digital Promise platform. Assessors will: evaluate submissions from K-12 teachers in the United States and abroad against established rubrics provide meaningful feedback to support professional growth ensure consistency in a double-blind review process and contribute data to improve microcredential content and review practices. 
Essential Job Functions:Assess College Access Partnerships (CAP)/Empowering Teacher Learning Program (ETL) microcredential submissions via the Digital Promise platform Evaluate submissions within seven calendar days of assignment, with close attention to each microcredential’s content, prompts, and rubrics, and ensuring alignment with established criteria Provide clear and actionable qualitative feedback that supports learner growth and professional development Maintain consistency, accuracy, and fairness in scoring Communicate quickly and directly with ETL Program staff regarding assessment logistics or issues Submit periodic reports to ETL Program staff on assessment trends and recommendations for improving microcredential content
Training/Onboarding Complete two initial virtual training sessions: Digital Promise “Getting Started” training: orientation to the platform and its structure CAP/ETL microcredential norming session: practice scoring with the assessor cohort to ensure interrater reliability Complete one approved microcredential (if not previously earned) within four weeks of hire (estimated 10-hour investment) Participate in periodic norming sessions with other assessors to maintain scoring integrity (as needed, not to exceed two sessions per semester)
Preferred Qualifications  | Active North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Teaching License National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification Experience observing, assessing, or supporting educators (e.g., mentoring beginning teachers, supervising student teaching interns, instructional coaching, or evaluating teacher performance) Working knowledge of the Digital Promise platform, including experience earning multiple digital badges; or comparable prior experience with competency-based education
