Event Production Systems Engineer Full Description

Grand Canyon University! One of Arizona's leading institutions of higher learning. Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is an institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. 

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:


  • Setup, configuration, and operation of all broadcast or streaming equipment necessary for any event that takes place on campus.
  • Troubleshooting and quick decision making on equipment used and configuration to ensure events will commence without sacrificing quality.
  • Act as a liaison for outside entities and ensure their needs are met.
  • Support the Ross XPression graphics platform and its integration with the Arena production environment.
  • Support the Ross Carbonite production switcher and associated control systems.
  • Develop proficiency with the Arena's replay system and its integration with switching, graphics, routing, playback, and other production systems.
  • Repair and maintenance of equipment and systems to ensure full functionality. This includes regular maintenance and inventory tracking of equipment.
  • Provide recommendations on new equipment, processes, and standards to improve the efforts of events throughout campus.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation including system diagrams, signal paths, configurations, equipment information, maintenance records, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Trace signal paths and isolate technical failures across complex production systems.
  • Contractor support

Equipment Used and Responsibility

  • MS Office Suite
  • Broadcast terms, cables, connectors and signal types and conversions
  • Black Magic, Panasonic, Ross, Xpression, Sony, Clear Com, ATEM, Teradek
  • Computer to device interfaces and networking principles
  • Test equipment and troubleshoot connection issues and resolutions
  • Requires working nights, weekends, and holidays and in-person presence on game days


Supervisory Responsibilities

Management and Supervision of student workers that will assist in production efforts


Experience/  Education

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with broadcast or video streaming
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical troubleshooting experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or equivalent production experience
  • Must pass preemployment background investigations.
