Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the direction of the publisher, responsible for identifying, acquiring and developing high-quality and commercial picture books with a goal of 360 sales and exploitation across all divisions of the company; Trade, Scholastic Reading Events, and Scholastic Entertainment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquire and develop picture books properties with a focus on securing broad rights for maximum content creation opportunities across the company
Maintain strong relationships with authors, illustrators and literary agents
Collaborate with marketing, sales, and design teams to optimize publishing success
Responsible for title-level P&L creation to meet profitability metrics for picture books.

Strong editorial judgement, creative vision, and knowledge of market trends and emerging voices for 0-6 YO publishing
Ability to leverage agent and author relationships to secure key projects.
Excellent project management skills
Understanding of P&L forms required
