The Institute of Arctic Biology (
IAB) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader for its next Executive Officer. IAB supports over 150 faculty and staff conducting research throughout Alaska and the Arctic. As the Executive Officer, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated and professional administrative team, providing fiscal and regulatory oversight to the Institute and its research programs, and serving as a key and trusted advisor to the Director.
This position plays a vital role to the success of research at IAB and requires a well-rounded strategic thinker who can manage fiscal resources for long-term growth and sustainability, lead and develop a strong team, represent the Institute across the University, resolve conflicts, and provide feedback with directness, tact, and professionalism. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
At least 5 years of progressive management experience; preferably with professional experience in accounting, contracts, personnel, and general office operations, procurement, A/R, A/P, payroll, travel, recruitment procedures, and university or equivalent policy and accounting regulations.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Flexible work arrangements may be considered. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 83, based on education and experience.
