Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Finance and Operations Manager assists the Vice Dean for Finance & Business Operations in preparing the law school’s budget and other financial reports. The Manager oversees and analyzes departmental and program financial activity, ensuring adherence to budget, financial responsibility, and alignment with the school’s goals. The Manager analyzes new and existing projects and initiatives and assesses progress toward strategic goals and objectives by creating financial reports.
The Finance Manager will serve as the reviewer and approver of law school payments, ensuring adherence to University and Educational Foundation policies and procedures. They will also serve as the law school’s subject-matter expert on procurement matters, providing advice and overseeing law school activities to ensure compliance with procurement law and university procedures.
The Finance Manager will work with the Facilities Building Manager and the Vice Dean in handling facilities issues not managed by the Facilities Department, including office changes, equipment and furniture requests, renovation needs, and facilities work orders.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree. Proven and verified expertise in finance and accounting. Strong data, analytical, and financial skills and experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and disseminate financial data with attention to detail and perform tasks quickly and accurately.
Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Exceptional communication, data presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to present financial and business issues clearly and concisely. Ability to handle confidential information with great discretion, tact, and judgment.
A strong analytical, creative mind with a problem-solving approach. Results-oriented with a strong sense of vision and initiative and strong organizational skills.
A passion for education and a commitment to align resources with the school’s strategic goals.
Ability to work well with various constituencies, including faculty, staff, and students.
Proficient in PeopleSoft Finance, data warehouse tools, and Anaplan (or have the ability to learn applications quickly) and intermediate knowledge of accounting and finance. Ability to perform financial analysis, prepare financial statements, and analyze financial data.

Serves as Visa liaison for the law school. Responsible for maintaining law school internal policies and policing those policies.
