Job Purpose  | Performs professional duties in the creation and maintenance of accounting records, as well as, the verification, reconciliation, and documentation of financial transactions as related to divisional capital and operating accounts under the general supervision of the Finance Manager & Contract Administrator. The major components of the division are Custodial Services, Central Energy and Utilities, Operation and Maintenance of Buildings including Residence Hall Facilities, as well as, Architectural and Engineering Services. The divisional budget is approximately $35M. The other major component is capital projects, on the average 50 active individual budgets totally approximately $150M.

Minimum Requirements  | Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field and a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience working with complex budgets and accounting practices is required.

Strong financial skills with an emphasis in accounting and managerial finance with experience in managing a large, complicated budget is preferred. Must have excellent analytical and communications skills (both written and oral) and presentations skills. Demonstrated excellence in communicating complex or technical information verbally and in writing is preferred. A strong customer service orientation is required. Must have experience in working in a continuous quality improvement environment, with documented success as an innovator and creative problem solver. Demonstrated skills in effective management, supervision and team building is preferred.

Financial or budgetary experience working in a higher education environment is desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  | Must be highly organized, accurate, consistent, and proficient in creating, updating, and reconciling electronic financial records. Must have related experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. Computational, research, and analytical skills are a must. Must have proficient knowledge of Excel as well as other Microsoft Office Suite modules. Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro a must. Preference may be given to persons having Banner experience and to candidates with higher education experience. Must pass a SCLED background check. Thorough knowledge of state government fiscal processes. Considerable knowledge of the principles, theories, terminology and practices of accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial management. Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data; ability to work with a diverse group of professionals, and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to handle heavy workloads, multiple deadlines, and competing priorities. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
