Financial Aid Counselor Full Description

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We seek a full-time, on-site Financial Aid Counselor in the Office of Financial Aid. This position supports students and their families through the financial aid process at PFW. The salary for this position is $43,888.08 annually.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide student- focused, comprehensive advising on FAFSA applications, verification requirements, C-Flag documentation, and eligibility for Federal, State, and institutional aid.
  • Guide students on the university's financial aid processes, including aid disbursement, refunding, bookstore credit, billing, and payment procedures.
  • Advise on external financial resources such as private loans, and outside scholarships.
  • Assist students with understanding withdrawal processes and policies, ensuring they are aware of the impact on their financial aid.
  • Advise students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) / SAP appeals- sit on the SAP committee and process SAP appeals.
  • Triaging student complaints and determining when to escalate issues.
  • Manage inquiries, and ensuring proper notification to relevant university departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in related field.  
  • Detail oriented.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills e.g.; in-person, phone, email, video.
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently in a team and independently.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of work experience in financial aid.
