Financial Aid Data & Reporting Specialist Full Description

Job Summary

:

The Financial Aid Systems Analyst provides technical expertise, programming, and systems support for the Office of Financial Aid. This role assists the Associate Director in maintaining and optimizing system tools, including document imaging, data reporting, and integrations with systems like Argos and Salesforce. The Analyst collaborates with staff to improve operational efficiency, ensures data integrity, and supports compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

:

1. Systems Programming & Reporting (35%)

  • Develop and maintain Argos reports and financial aid/Banner tools to support financial aid operations. Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis using Excel.


2. System Integration & Customization (20%)

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial aid systems. Support custom development and enhancements to meet evolving institutional and regulatory needs.


3. Data Reporting & Analysis (15%)

  • Collaborate with the Director on year-end data clean-up and reporting. Prepare reports to support compliance, audit, and institutional planning efforts.


4. User Support & Documentation (10%)

  • Provide training, troubleshooting, and support to financial aid staff. Develop and maintain user guides, reporting tools, process documentation, and standards to ensure consistent system usage and data integrity.


5. Special Projects & Miscellaneous (10%)

  • Complete system clean-up tasks, participate in special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.


6. Counseling duties (10%)

  • Prepares and revises financial aid offers, provides customer service for students including appointments, email and phone contact. Assist in the preparation and revision of financial aid offers and ensure system processes align with regulatory standards. Maintain current knowledge of Title IV and State of Minnesota financial aid regulations.

Required Skills

:

  • Proficiency with Argos reporting tools
  • Demonstrated direct experience with Banner Financial Aid
  • Familiarity with Apex, Java, and Excel-based reporting and automation
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form to both individuals and groups

Expected Hours of Work:
Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
