Job Summary
Serves as the Financial Aid Liaison and primary escalation point for the Onestop Office resolving complex financial aid issues. Interprets Title IV regulations, provides high level counseling to students and families with questions regarding financial aid and enrollment service inquiries through timely customer services via telephone, emails, and in-person. Trains university staff on financial aid policies and procedures.
Analyzes applicants and their family's personal circumstances to establish their ability to contribute toward the cost of education. Counsels current and prospective students on application procedures, eligibility criteria, program requirements, and other financial aid concerns.
- Delivers timely customer service to constituents and support units. Provides customer service support via telephone, email, in-person, and via live chat to execute efficient, expedient, and quality solutions.
- Assists Financial Aid Office with complex program processing when not resolving Onestop escalated cases.
- Contributes to the development and delivery of strategic departmental goals and objectives.
- Assists with recruitment. Facilitates university orientation and high school outreach to present financial aid information to prospective students and parents.
- Interprets and effectively communicates federal, state, and institutional regulations specific to Title IV funds for administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
- Develops and delivers comprehensive financial aid training programs for university staff and administrators.
- Works directly with the Onestop Office to investigate and resolve complex student financial aid issues, overriding systems or applying professional judgment where regulatory exceptions allow.
- Maintains strict adherence to all federal, state institutional, and NCAA rules and regulations governing financial aid and student eligibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of financial aid or related experience or a Master's degree and two (2) years of financial aid or related experience.
Departmental Requirements
Must be able to obtain clearance for National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) access, which requires no default on federal financial aid, within 60 days of employment. Must adhere to federal, state, institutional, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Desired Qualifications
- Advance proficiency with Student Information Systems and federal databases.
- Proven ability to research and analyze complex problems related to student financial aid administrative rules and policies.
