Financial Analyst Full Description

About Us: 
The Research Finance Department at Albert Einstein College of Medicine is responsible for monitoring all Sponsored Funds activity.  The Department assists with establishing fund numbers in our Banner financial system.  We monitor and report expenditures to our sponsoring agency as indicated in the agreement documentation. Effort certifications are coordinated and tracked in our office and as well as other compliance areas such as cost transfers, unallowable costs, sub recipient monitoring, closing out of sponsored grants, etc.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Financial Analyst partners with the Principal Investigator (PI), Department Administrator (DA) and Finance Management in order to ensure that sponsored project activity is meeting Institutional goals and requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Process expert for FFR & Final Invoices
  • Continuous monitoring of sponsored projects to ensure personnel and OTPS expenses are charged timely and accurately.
  • Liaison with pre award office and assist with any questions.
  • Prepares and approves journal vouchers. 
  • Reviews and approves cost transfers and/or makes adjustment recommendations to Department Administrators or PI’s
  • Analyze and reports all assigned Federal, Non-Federal grants and contracts (including preparing invoices)
  • Assists with travel reimbursement in Concur.
  • Assists with Purchase Order approvals in EPRO.
  • Responsible for the distribution and tracking of the high balance alerts to Departments.
  • Responsible for the pre review of P.I reports for distribution.
  • Assists with cross training newly hired Financial Analysts.
  • Ensure all expenditures reported are in compliance with regulations and guidelines put forth by Federal and Non-Federal sponsors, specifically reviewing for unallowable costs.
  • Ensure all expenditures reported are in compliance with Albert Einstein College of Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of internal and final Federal Financial Reports (FFR) as required by the Sponsor.
  • Research and report to supervisor any issues reported on general ledger (e.g. accurate budget, budget period, project period, facilities and administration rate, recording of expenditure and income)
  • Reviews information for the submission of RPPR’s.
  • Reviews information for the submission of carry forward requests
  • Special Projects as needed
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements: 
  • Bachelors Degree and 1-3 years of related experience. 
  • Combination of equivalent education and experience may also be considered. 

Key Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Strong familiarity with Sponsored Research Financial Regulations, such as; Uniform Guidance, FAR and NIH Grants Policy Statement.
  • MS Office Applications & Internet Usage, Project/Outlook.
  • The Financial Analyst is expected to conduct him/herself in a professional manner. 
  • The Financial Analyst should possess qualities of timeliness, respect and customer service.
 Minimum Salary Range: USD $63,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary Range: USD $70,000.00/Yr.
