| Job Summary | The College of Humanities at the University of Utah is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the implementation of a coordinated services for finance. This position will primarily serve a shared service cluster, which includes the Departments of English and Writing & Rhetoric Studies. The financial analyst will play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, financial oversight, and compliance, ensuring the financial health and strategic planning of the college’s academic units.

Problem Solving The Financial Analyst has the authority to independently determine the type and nature of analysis to be used to obtain the desired information or results, including data to be collected, analysis methods, presentation, format and report structure. Representative challenges of this position include organizing and prioritizing multiple projects, determining the best course of action or appropriate resources needed to complete a project or address a problem, obtaining valid data and creating clear and understandable reports that reflect the data being sought. The Financial Analyst must correctly interpret regulations to ensure the University is in compliance with Federal, State and other requirements. Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required Nearly Continuously: Office environment. Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead. |
| Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus two years of related experience. Also required are a thorough knowledge of established accounting principles and practices; spreadsheet and database skills; knowledge of statistics and demonstrated analytical, problem solving, human relation and effective communication skills required. An advanced degree, such as a Master’s of Business Administration, is preferred. Certain positions may require familiarity with hospital billing systems, Medicare and insurance reimbursement regulations, etc. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
