Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Knowledge of financial operations principles and frameworks, including cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting, optimization, and financial accountability.
  • Knowledge of cloud financial management and pricing models, including consumption-based billing, reserved capacity, savings plans, commitments, licensing, and other cloud cost-management concepts.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, databases, software licensing, and other technology services, sufficient to interpret cost drivers and spending patterns.
  • Skill in analyzing and reconciling financial and cloud consumption data, identifying cost trends and anomalies, developing forecasts, preparing reports and dashboards, and recommending opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational functions, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, organize complex financial and technical information, and provide recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FinOps or cloud-related certifications.
  • Experience using cloud cost-management, optimization, reporting, or dashboarding tools.

Job Description
The FinOps Specialist performs financial operations and cloud cost management activities in support of the IT Division. This position works collaboratively with IT Finance, IT Procurement, and Central Systems Operations and is responsible for monitoring and analyzing cloud expenditures, usage, budgets, forecasts, billing, and financial performance to promote cost transparency, accountability, and efficient use of cloud resources.
Job Duties
  • Monitor and analyze cloud usage, costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance to identify trends, anomalies, optimization opportunities, and potential budget impacts, while developing and maintaining cost models and financial reports to support organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Review and reconcile cloud invoices, billing data, purchase orders, contracts, and financial records; investigate discrepancies and coordinate their resolution with the appropriate departments and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain cost allocation, tagging, chargeback, and cost management methodologies to accurately assign cloud expenditures to departments, applications, projects, and other organizational units.
  • Identify and recommend cloud cost optimization opportunities, including resource rightsizing, elimination of unused resources, commitment-based discounts, licensing optimization, and improvements to cloud architecture and consumption practices.
  • Track cost savings, cost avoidance, utilization, and other FinOps performance measures; prepare reports and dashboards to communicate financial performance and optimization results.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and Central Systems Operations to establish cloud budgets, manage expenditures, improve forecasting, and promote financial accountability.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of FinOps policies, procedures, standards, controls, and governance practices for cloud financial management.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
