Job Summary/Basic Function  | About the position:
The Trio Talent Search project coordinator will work under the general direction of the director Talent Search and is responsible for managing activities at the high schools. Talent Search provides academic enrichment support to low-income, first-generation students. This includes a diverse number of activities aimed at providing educational services to students and families from the Harrisburg, Allentown, Columbia, York, Pottstown, Lebanon, Lancaster, Reading, and Norristown School Districts. The position will utilize Talent Search funds to provide educational services to students and families in preparation for a post-secondary education, provide transitional support after high school graduation, and assist with recruitment and enrollment of students from each of the 10 high schools. The coordinator will develop academic and social programs that increase the probability of obtaining the goals and expectations of Talent Search.

Additionally, the position will supervise and work with the financial caseworker, academic support caseworker, and a graduate assistant/caseworker.

The Talent Search program coordinator will serve as the lead liaison for the participating high schools and develop recruitment and retainment opportunities for the participants.

Duties and Responsibilities  | Assist with federal reporting requirements. Supervision of the two caseworkers and one graduate assistant/caseworker. Visit all assigned schools and assist with day-to-day operations to advancing Talent Search. Build the relationship with the 10 partnership schools. Recruit 500 Talent Search students from across the 10 partnership schools. Support academic success at the secondary and postsecondary levels. Develop educational activities. Assist with individual coaching session. Attend college and career exploration workshops. Participate in monthly parent-student meetings introducing relevant materials, procedures and aiding with admissions, financial aid, and other college resources. Develop a plan for success for high school graduation. Understand the foster care pipeline from high school to college All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, or a closely related field. One year of experience working with a diverse population of students. Successful experience in a student support role. Experience with providing students with resources on high school and college campuses that assist first generation college-going students. Knowledge of financial aid and other financial resources. Strong organizational, management, and leadership skills Ability to: manage confidential and sensitive information. work cooperatively with a diverse group of people. exercise sound judgement. determine priorities. multi-task and effectively work with diverse groups. complete assigned projects in a timely manner. work well under tight deadlines. work within a budget.  Experience leading and motivating others. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations. Valid driver’s license. Successful interview. Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree in education, Social Work, or Social Service- related field. Strong preference will be given to candidates who have succeeded in overcoming barriers like those confronting the project’s target population.
