Job Description:
The Department of English invites applications for the position of Graduate Program Student Services Support Coordinator for its online graduate programs. Reporting to the Program Manager for Online Programs, the Graduate Program Student Services Support Coordinator promotes the academic success of online graduate students through advising and facilitating student progress towards degree completion. This position works collaboratively and collegially with the Department and services throughout the university to facilitate comprehensive student support through a range of in-person and virtual academic counseling and support strategies
Position Salary Range:
$51,500-$55,000 annually; DOE
Essential Duties:
Provides individual academic advising and regularly interacts with graduate students in support of academic success.
Maintains student academic records through application, matriculation, and graduation.
Proactively monitors student academic performance; collaborates closely with students to address and resolve concerns, questions, or issues.
Counsels on academic options best suited to students' goals, interests, and skills, including: degrees, tutoring, counseling, career services, success coaches, extracurricular activities, study abroad program(s), research, internships, etc.
Regularly monitors and responds to applicant, student, and university inquiries within department's communication systems.
Coordinates application review and admission processes for graduate programs.
Collaborates with department faculty and staff to support academic success.
Implements academic success programs or advising policy changes as required.
Produces and disseminates program-related communications and other materials to facilitate student-related activities, admissions, recruitment efforts, and academic success.
Updates program and course information in multiple systems, ensuring it is correct and current.
Collects and shares data for identification and analysis of online graduate admissions, enrollment, and student success trends.
In consultation with the Program Manager, manages escalated issues from students, applicants, and university stakeholders while appropriately handling sensitive or private information.
Collaborates with leadership to provide solutions associated with specific initiatives/projects related to online graduate programs to achieve unit or college goals and departmental processes and expectations.
Assists in providing cross training to program staff as required.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, professional development seminars, and other student support-related meetings.
Attends or presents at in person and virtual graduate orientation or recruiting events/activities/workshops.
Participates in other duties as assigned by the online Program Manager
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience advising online students or working with online students/programs in student recruitment/retention or other related student services.
Experience providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
Demonstrated knowledge of ASU academic structure and familiarity with programs such as Peoplesoft, Analytics, Dashboards, Gportal, iPOS, AppXtender, Salesforce, Microsoft Office.
Experience performing job tasks using multiple systems simultaneously (such as student record databases, customer relationship management systems, degree progress tools, appointment systems).
Demonstrated skill in communicating complex information in a timely fashion, verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability in independent decision making.
Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects and tasks.
Experience working effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships as well as problem solving with a variety of populations.
Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, faculty, students, administration and other stakeholders.
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environment controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%)
Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work (25%).
Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
This position receives regular review of objectives.
This position is eligible for flexible work arrangements after 90 days of employment with proper approval.

Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
