Job Description

Position Summary:
The Compliance Administrator in the MURC Post Award department is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and internal regulations governing externally funded awards. This role supports the post-award lifecycle by monitoring financial and administrative activities, interpreting regulations, and collaborating with principal investigators (PIs), departmental staff, and central offices to ensure proper stewardship of sponsored funds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor post-award activities to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines, institutional policies, and applicable regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance, agency-specific requirements, and MURC policy).
  • Review and approve transactions related to sponsored projects, including expenditures, cost transfers, and budget modifications.
  • Monitoring budgets to ensure the grant/contact is spent in accordance with the agency approved budget.
  • Interpret sponsor terms and conditions and provide guidance to faculty and staff on post-award compliance matters.
  • Identify compliance issues, recommend corrective actions, and track resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Finance, PreAward, and other MURC offices.
  • Stay current with evolving regulations and best practices in research administration.

This position is a hybrid position. Part remote and part onsite.
Location MURC - Marshall University Research Corporation
Salary Range 45,000 - 60,000 - Commensurate with experience and institutional guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in research administration, grants management, or compliance, preferably in a higher education or research environment.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to sponsored programs (e.g., Uniform Guidance/2 CFR 200).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
