Graphic Designer Full Description

Overview: 
The Shingo Institute, a program in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, is seeking a talented and creative Part-Time Multi-media Graphic Designer to help develop, communicate, and strengthen the brand image of the Shingo Institute. This is a remote position offering flexibility for an experienced graphic designer who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
 
This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah. Telework outside of the state of Utah is subject to review and approval by the University prior to a job offer being extended. Responsibilities: 
Conceptualization & Branding
  • Develop strategic design concepts and layouts based on project goals and stakeholder input.
  • Evolve and maintain a cohesive visual brand identity for the Shingo Institute, while preserving brand equity from previous years.
  • Ensure alignment with USU and Huntsman School brand standards.
  • Lead brand and design-related discussions, clearly articulating creative ideas and rationale.
Design Creation
  • Create visually compelling assets using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Design a range of materials including instructional materials, books, brochures, event signage and materials, social media graphics, PowerPoint presentations, and websites.
  • Produce both print and digital materials while maintaining high standards of visual consistency and brand integrity.
Layout, Composition & Production
  • Execute thoughtful typography, color palettes, and image placement to achieve balanced, effective designs.
  • Prepare final files for print and digital publishing with technical precision (e.g., bleeds, resolutions, file formats).
  • Communicate clearly with printers, web teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery and implementation.
  • Obtain bids from domestic and international printers to select the best producer.
Collaboration & Presentation
  • Work closely with the Shingo events and marketing team to align creative deliverables with campaign strategy.
  • Present design concepts and revisions to stakeholders, incorporating feedback while maintaining design integrity.
Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance the visual presence and engagement of Shingo materials.
 Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a design-related role, preferably including branding and marketing.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of pre-press file preparation and digital formats.
Design & Creative Skills
  • Exceptional eye for typography, color theory, and composition.
  • Ability to translate abstract ideas into effective visual communication.
  • Strong storytelling ability through design.
Soft Skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and capable of meeting multiple deadlines under pressure.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality and signs a non-disclosure agreement as required.
