About the Department:The Office of Marketing and Communications within University Life, supports the division's efforts to engage all of the Mason community.
About the Position:The Graphic Designer will work as part of a team comprised of marketing and communications professionals and reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications within University Life Marketing and Communications. This is a part-time, hourly wage position.
Responsibilities:Design high-quality print and digital deliverables for University Life events/campaigns/programming/etc.;Contribute to the development and execution of a unit social media plan; andDevelop content for university communications channels.
Required Qualifications:Experience with print and publication design;Ability to generate original concepts and execute them from start to finish;Direct experience with final preparation and packaging of print materials;Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Bridge/Lightroom);Experience with operating a DSLR camera;Experience with photography editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite Lightroom, Camera Raw, etc.;Experience with multiple photo editing techniques;Knowledge of CMYK, RGB, and PMS color grids;Ability to provide a portfolio or samples online;Working knowledge of social media management and implementation (Instagram, X, YouTube, Hootsuite);Ability to work in an office in a Mac environment;Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;Demonstrated organizational management and problem-solving skills;Ability to accurately and efficiently meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities;Proven ability to thrive in a team-oriented workplace; andAbility to work occasional weekends or evenings to support departmental events, orientations, and/or information sessions.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in marketing project management;Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, and more;Demonstrated experience with project management platforms; andAbility to be present at Mason’s Fairfax campus as needed by supervisors.
