Organization's Summary Statement:
This position for the University Health Center (UHC) is integral to campus and community-wide initiatives to strengthen and advance the UHC's identity and reputation. They play a key role in fostering a healthy, informed campus community and in supporting the planning, delivery, and evaluation of UHC communications and marketing initiatives. This position will also support cross-functional communication needs and initiatives involving other Division of Student Affairs health and well-being areas.
Primary responsibilities include developing and overseeing a comprehensive health communication strategy, managing UHC's digital presence, including web and social media, delivering critical health communications and health information to internal and external constituencies both on and off campus, managing media inquiries, and proactively developing press releases and media pitches to promote the public health services, resources, and programs offered by UHC.
This position supervises 1 FTE and reports directly to the UHC Assistant Director for Public Health, Education, and Communications.
-Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive health communication strategy to deliver critical health information and promote health and wellness services.
-Create engaging written, visual, and multimedia content, including social media posts, website copy, press releases, newsletters, brochures, email campaigns, and other promotional materials for various audiences.
-Manage the UHC's digital presence, including website management. Develop and implement digital marketing strategies and monitor their impact.
-Assist in developing and implementing effective PR strategies, managing media relations, and assisting with public inquiries and events.
-Build and oversee a team of student communication assistants.
-Serve on the University Health Center and Division of Student Affairs communications committees.
Preferences:
-Master's degree in health communications, strategic communications, public health, health education, or other related degrees.
-Certificate in Health Education and Communication (or willingness to obtain this certification within the first year of employment)
-Marketing and communications experience in health care or higher education.
-Experience with enterprise resource systems such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and CMS such as Drupal.
-Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
-Experience with recommending and implementing process changes to gain efficiency.
-Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Three (3) years of professional communications experience. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of writing, editing and public relations.Knowledge of interviewing, content editing, copy editing, and proofreading.Skill in oral and written communication.Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
