Honors College and Office of Student Success Full Description

UAA Honors College and Office of Student Success is seeking applicants for the position of Honors College and Office of Student Success Student Assistant to aid administration in managing student record data entry, providing general event support, managing social media, and assisting with projects.

The Honors College and Office of Student Success Student Assistant must possess a strong knowledge of University programs. Must be proficient in Microsoft programs, Google Docs and Calendar, and have the ability to learn new technology systems. Due to the collaborative nature of this role working with multiple departments, excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and professional demeanor are essential to the position. Must exhibit strong oral and written communication skills with an ability to present material to staff or faculty in a clear, calm, and cohesive manner. Possess a willingness and ability to initiate, lead, and facilitate conversations with students and University professionals. Finally, the successful candidates must demonstrate sound professional judgment, intercultural sensitivity, and maintain the strictest of confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must have earned and continue to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. The student assistant will work 10-20 hours a week Monday-Friday. They must have a minimum of 30 credits within the UA system and be a currently enrolled student taking 12 credits or more. Students must also pass a background check.

Position Details:

This position is located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a part-time, non-exempt Student Assistant 2 position with rate of pay $14.38 an hour.

Throughout the semester, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the hiring manager if they drop classes and are enrolled in fewer than 6 credits.

Per Board of Regents policy, student employment should not exceed 20 hours per week.
