Position Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Human Resources Business Partner and the Director of Human Resources, this position provides human resource services by partnering with internal and external customers of the University of Idaho. This position works closely with areas and departments to provide advice and support on Human Resource issues, such as recruitment and hiring, compensation and classification, employee relations, Americans with Disabilities Act, and other HR functional areas.

Duties may include:
  • Interpret and apply University procedures, policies and business processes
  • Plans and carries out work independently and timely
  • Responsible for coordinating within designated area of subject matter expertise
  • Partner with Employment Services, Benefits, Payroll and others as appropriate to create cross-functional teams in order to create solutions for areas and departments
  • Provide guidance in all of the following: recruitment, classification, compensation, corrective and disciplinary action, training and development, interpretation and application of laws, rules, policies and procedures, appeals, grievances, performance management, training, performance reviews, career counseling, organizational reviews, reasonable accommodations, employee recognition, and/or other functions relating to human resource management
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience
  • Four years human resources experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or directly related field plus one year of human resources experience
  • In three (3) or more of the following areas: recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, training and development, reasonable accommodation, Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Applying knowledge of personnel administration
  • Reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; compiling data and information for reports; composing written communication; explaining and proposing policies and procedures

  • Customer service, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting or applying labor laws
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interactions with large groups and skilled at working with individuals of all levels of understanding
  • Demonstrated experience working collegially and collaboratively with internal and external constituencies
  • Understanding of job analysis methods, and/or job classification concepts
