The Human Resources Assistant will provide direct administrative and clerical support to the Faculty Compensation and Credentials Team. Duties will center on routine, transactional review, processing, and tracking as well as information gathering and compilation, associated with related business processes. Related business processes include faculty catalog update, reassigned time, teaching requests, additional & supplemental pay processing, multi-year appointments, workload worksheets, transcript collection and recordkeeping.

Special Assignments  | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications  | Knowledge: Commonwealth, VCCS, and College’s human resources policies and procedures. Principles and procedures for providing customer service (this includes assessment of customer needs, and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction). Administrative procedures and systems including managing records accurately and ensuring appropriate confidentiality. Skills: Communication comprehension skills to understand and interpret written policies and procedures. Communicate effectively in both written and oral formats as appropriately needed for the audience. Active listening skills in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand others’ points of view, and asking appropriate questions. Abilities: Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and appropriately communicate the issue. The ability to analyze and provide recommendations for changes or modifications to existing procedures and processes. Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time. Ability to work with interruptions. Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications: Experience and/or training in Human Resources. Beginning/Basic-Level Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Additional Considerations  | Prior experience in a human resources office or as a human resources assistant or professional. Demonstrated interest in human resources. Prior experience with records collection, retention and destruction. Intermediate-Level Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with ImageNow and Microsoft Access.
