Position Summary Information 
Summary 
Performs full range of human resource activities including employment, recruitment, benefits, employee records, compensation, attendance management, employee communications, and compliance by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
Other duties may be assigned. Maintain and update employee confidential file information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and terminations, and provide necessary personnel action information to payroll for processing. Create, update, and maintain clear, comprehensive job descriptions for all positions across the organization. Ensure job descriptions accurately reflect role responsibilities, qualifications, required skills, and performance expectations. Collaborate with department heads and hiring managers to define new positions and assess existing roles. Conduct job analysis to ensure that positions align with organizational needs, goals, and market standards. Manage the recruiting process, including posting job openings, sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating job offers. Assist in the development of interview guides and candidate assessments. Conduct regular market research to ensure competitive compensation and benefits offerings. Provide recommendations for salary ranges and job classification structures based on external benchmarks. Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward the University goals. Respond to and resolve employee relations issues using established procedures per the University Employee Handbook. Foster a positive work environment by maintaining open communication and resolving issues promptly. Support managers in the performance review process, providing guidance on goal setting, feedback delivery, and employee development plans. Maintain records of performance evaluations and assist in managing employee development programs Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including internal audit and documentation requirements. Serve as back-up assistance for incoming student worker processing; review HR packet turned in by students for complete and accurate information with review of their personal identification for I-9 form purposes.  Process payroll information and changes with necessary information transmitted to student payroll to process. Prepare and file reports of accidents and injuries in compliance with OSHA requirements; compile and respond to all workers’ compensation issues when designated person is absent. Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions, offering accurate information and guidance on a variety of HR topics. Examine employee files to respond to requests for information, ensuring confidentiality of sensitive data while providing necessary details to authorized persons. Manage the termination process, including conducting exit interviews, ensuring proper paperwork is completed, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements (e.g., final pay, COBRA). Prepare and maintain HR reports for management, including turnover rates, compensation reports, metrics, and compliance documentation. Assist with audits and ensure all HR records meet legal and organizational requirements. Assist in the development and facilitation of training opportunities within the organization to support employee growth, skills development, and organizational goals. Participate in strategy sessions with the HR team on policy and HR practices to further develop initiatives that support the University’s institutional goals. Stays current on applicable law changes, trends, and innovations. Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports, as needed. Prepare clear and professional HR-correspondence, including policy updates, announcements, and other communications for employees and leadership. Maintain filing of personnel records and related documents. Complete special projects and analyses under the direction of the Director of Human Resources.

Supervisory Responsibilities 
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of human resources administration including recruitment, compensation and benefits. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent telephone courtesy, knowledge and experience. Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Knowledge of the methods and practices of records management. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires enough hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability enough to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Education and/or Experience  | Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in business administration, human resources, or related field; and three to five years related experience and training in the department of Human Resources. Experience in higher education is preferred.
