Job Summary The Information Technology (IT) Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership in the implementation, maintenance, and daily operations of IT systems across multiple departments. This role encompasses desktop support, remote meeting facilitation, hardware and software management, server and network administration, data security, etc. The IT Manager supervises a small team and/or interns, oversees enterprise security solutions, and leads the development of IT policies and procedures. The position is focused on delivering expert, user-friendly support and ensuring efficient resolution of technical issues through proactive help desk management.

Responsibilities |
Direct/Manage/Supervise the implementation and maintenance of the overall IT platform/infrastructure. Oversee multiple areas within information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, data security, etc. Ensure the stability, integrity, and operation of all systems, and oversee the monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing of all network software, hardware, and operating systems. Monitor the organization’s operational requirements, research strategies and technology solutions, and build the most cost-effective and efficient system to achieve those goals. Oversee security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion protection systems, disaster recovery, and back-up procedures. Lead the development of policies and procedures for computer systems operations and development. First-level manager. Manage the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.
IT Support & Operations
Provide timely hardware, software, and general technical support to departments Manage the full IT employee lifecycle, including equipment purchasing, new employee onboarding, and employee offboarding. Administer and troubleshoot access to network printers and other peripherals. Maintain and update computer inventory data.
Help Desk Management Ensure all aspects of the IT support function are focused on providing superior, user-friendly, and expert service to employees. Take full ownership of support procedures related to identification, prioritization, and resolution of incidents, including the monitoring, tracking, and coordination of help desk functions. Proactively communicate statistics and metrics on help desk trends and needs, alerting others to recurring problems and patterns. Responsible for monitoring quality assurance for all support requests. Regularly evaluate the market for new technologies that can assist, improve, and automate support activities.
Data Security Deploy, manage, and maintain a robust cybersecurity toolset, including Microsoft Intune, Tanium, Microsoft Defender, Beyond Trust EPM & PWS, and Forcepoint DLP. Maintain server infrastructure and software. Maintain a fleet of clean loaner laptops for use during foreign travel. Provide consultations and data security reviews for faculty and staff.
Meeting, AV, and Telecommuting Support
Provide technical support for in-person and hybrid meetings, managing audio-visual equipment and Zoom sessions. Create and host Zoom and Teams meetings for various committees.
Documentation & Collaboration Maintain comprehensive documentation for all IT resources and standard operating procedures. Participate in Central Campus UIT meetings, including IT Professionals, Mac Admins, and Cybersecurity meetings to stay informed on best practices and emerging technologies. Act as the front line and liaison between users and Central Campus UIT regarding email, storage, and other tickets
Team Leadership and Supervision
Supervise and mentor limited number of staff and/or student interns, assigning projects and providing guidance to foster their professional growth.
Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Manager, Information Technology Management : Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
