| Job Summary | The IT/AV Specialist provides basic IT desktop support for all departments within the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, the Physician Assistant Program and the Doctorate in Physical Therapy program. This includes building, configuring and installing computers. Configuring and installing laptops and printers and general troubleshooting of all computer equipment. The IT/AV Specialist additionally provides basic AV support for all classroom and meeting rooms in all buildings supported by our team. Provide frontline IT support to students, including assistance with Wi-Fi connectivity, access to university systems, and troubleshooting device-related issues in an academic setting. Assist with exam proctoring and classroom support, including technology setup, real-time troubleshooting during exams, and coordination with program staff to ensure smooth and secure exam delivery. Due to physical location of DPAES staff being located in building owned and managed by Utah Tech University, this position will require professional and timely communication and cooperation with Utah Tech University building management and their IT support staff.

| Responsibilities | Role Specific: IT support includes building, configuring, installing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Some network troubleshooting is also possible. This position will be 100% on site and require travel between different locations on campus to support issues. May involve picking up and returning computers, monitors, printers, etc. Position will provide new user setup of computers when new employees begin their employment. Will also provide basic training on policies of using computer equipment on campus. (30-40%). AV support includes troubleshooting equipment issues in classrooms and meeting rooms. This will include some early morning meeting setup and possibly some later afternoon support. Flexible start and end times may be required to accomplish this task. Provide training for department representatives on how to use AV equipment. (60-70%) Information Technology Specialists, II Perform duties across multiple areas of information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, data security, and other areas of the overall IT platform/infrastructure. Responsible for the stability, integrity, and operation of all systems by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software, hardware, and operating systems. Report system downtime and performance issues. Conduct analysis, including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of information technology tools. Respond to user requests for system needs and upgrades. Manage security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion protection systems. Perform scheduled network tasks, update antivirus definition files, monitor network servers, and provide internet and intranet user support. Participate in IT projects to drive technological efficiencies. Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. This is a Developing-Level position in the General Professional track.
