SALARY:
$56,600 to $69,500 per year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

Primary Purpose: 
Rocky Vista University seeks a collaborative, curiosity‑driven statistician and survey methodologist to serve as the technical lead for institution‑level survey design and complex analytics. The incumbent is responsible for instrument design and validation, survey deployment, data quality assurance, and statistical analyses (e.g., multivariate, predictive, longitudinal) that inform institutional decision‑making. Partnering across academic and administrative units, this role stewards high‑value institution-level research and reporting that advances RVU's culture of data‑informed continuous improvement. 

Essential Job Functions: 
  • Conduct and clearly interpret statistical analyses such as GLM/GLMM, ANOVA/MANOVA, logistic and survival models, factor and cluster analyses, predictive modeling, segmentation, and longitudinal trend analysis; translate results into plain‑language insights and decision recommendations.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of institutional surveys (e.g., student experience, climate, alumni, graduating student, etc.), establishing statistically valid sampling frames, response targets, and weighting plans to ensure representativeness.
  • Develop and validate survey instruments, and maintain technical documentation (codebooks, methods notes, validation summaries) using Qualtrics™.
  • Manage the survey deployment calendar and operational workflows in Qualtrics ™, including survey logic, versioning, A/B testing where appropriate, and response‑rate optimization strategies.
  • Build audience‑appropriate deliverables (executive summaries, briefs, visualizations) that highlight key drivers, benchmarks, effect sizes, uncertainty, and actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as an internal survey design & statistical consultant, providing guidance, review, and methodological support to departments conducting their own analyses and/or building their own surveys.
  • Deliver high‑quality ad hoc and recurring institutional reports; build, maintain and improve SQL used for extractions.
  • Partner with IT and data owners to strengthen data governance (definitions, lineage, quality standards) that support reliable reporting and analytics.
  • Assist with management of the IRR ticketing queue to align priorities with institutional goals, ensuring timely service and clear communication with requestors.
  • Provide support for strategic planning, institutional accreditation, federal and state reporting requirements, and institutional assessment and evaluation processes as requested.
  • Assist faculty and staff in identifying appropriate data collection methods, policies, and procedures to ensure reliable, appropriate, and legal use of institutional and personally identifiable information; Uphold data privacy and security standards (e.g., FERPA).
  • Understand, adopt, and work with multiple software programs that collect and analyze data, and conduct internal and external research to create data sets and metrics that inform decision-making.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to accurately conduct and interpret higher-level statical analyses (such as multivariate analyses, predictive modeling, etc.) using SPSS or similar software to ensure accurate understanding of institutional data.
  • Demonstrated expertise in survey methodology (sampling design, instrument construction, reliability/validity, bias assessment, weighting).
  • Experience designing and deploying surveys in Qualtrics ™, including complex logic and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to write efficient and complex SQL queries for data extraction; proficiency with Excel (Power Query, PivotTables) and data visualization tools (Power BI).
  • Strong project management, organization, and stakeholder communication skills; commitment to data privacy and ethical research practices.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree From an accredited institution in Statistics, Data Science, Quantitative Research Methods, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2)+ years of professional experience in higher education, data science/analytics, or quantitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in survey design and deployment (Qualtrics ™ or similar) and in statistical analysis and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power BI) and effective cross‑functional collaboration.
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Survey Methodology, Biostatistics, Quantitative Methods, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience leading institution‑wide survey cycles and conducting resultant data analysis.
  • Experience with IPEDS and accreditation reporting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise information systems (e.g., Jenzabar, Ellucian, Salesforce).
