Job Description:
The Accessibility & Digital Compliance Specialist supports Academic Affairs by advancing institutional compliance with federal and accreditation accessibility requirements for digital instructional materials. This position focuses on supporting faculty and staff with accessibility remediation, document conversion, and learning management system (LMS) accessibility practices. Working collaboratively with Academic Affairs leadership, instructional designers, IT partners, and faculty, the Specialist provides hands-on support, guidance, and technical assistance related to accessible course content and instructional materials. This role is project-based and time-limited, aligned with accreditation, compliance, and institutional accessibility initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:Provide direct support to faculty and staff in remediating digital instructional materials to ensure accessibility for students, including Word documents, PDFs, presentations, and LMS content.Assist with accessibility reviews and remediation efforts related to LMS platforms (e.g., D2L or comparable systems), including basic course accessibility checks and content conversion.Support accessibility initiatives related to third-party tools and platforms (e.g., YuJa, Grackle or similar tools), including assisting faculty with basic use and troubleshooting.Convert and remediate complex documents into accessible formats, including resolving formatting, tagging, and structure issues.Provide guidance on accessibility best practices aligned with WCAG standards and applicable federal accessibility requirements.Collaborate with Academic Affairs leadership, instructional designers, and IT partners to support accessibility workflows, manage and respond to a faculty-facing accessibility ticketing system, and escalate technical issues as needed.Assist with documenting accessibility processes, workflows, and guidance materials to support consistent practices across Academic Affairs.Participate in accessibility-related meetings, trainings, and project planning sessions as requested.Track work completed, time spent, and progress on assigned accessibility projects in accordance with departmental expectations.Maintain confidentiality when working with faculty materials, student-related content, and institutional data.Perform other job-related duties as assigned in support of accessibility, digital compliance, and academic operations.

Supervision Received:Administrative supervision is received from the Dean of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment

Requirements:
Qualifications and Working Conditions:
Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, information technology, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.Demonstrated experience working with digital accessibility, instructional technology, or document remediation.Working knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and accessibility tools.Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and common productivity software (Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace).Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on project-based assignments.Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff with varying levels of technical expertise.Ability to work remotely and collaborate virtually with stakeholders as required. This is a fully remote position.

Additional Information:
Employment Term: ASAP through June 30, 2026This temporary position is anticipated to conclude on June 30 and may be extended at the discretion of the College based on institutional needs.Hours: Up to 30 hours per week based on project needs; flexible and remote schedule
