We believe unforgettable experiences are created one interaction at a time. That's what being SUPER is all about.

This role will be based in our North Phoenix corporate office and will work in office 3 days with the option to work remotely 2 days per week.

About the Role
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining training content within the company's Learning Management System (LMS), Opus. This role owns assigned content development from needs assessment through design, development, launch, and ongoing improvement, with direction and supervision from the Manager or Director. The Instructional Designer partners with subject matter experts and business leaders to identify learning needs, gather and validate content, and create clear, engaging, and practical learning experiences aligned with brand and operational standards.
Beyond content creation, this person must be a confident, credible presenter across very different settings: leading virtual sessions in Microsoft Teams, presenting to large in-person audiences (all-hands meetings, leadership conferences, regional trainings), and delivering hands-on training at the store level with small frontline teams. The ability to adjust tone, pacing, and delivery style across these formats is essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities
Course Development & Design
  • Assess Training Needs: Conduct needs assessments with business leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify performance needs, target audiences, desired outcomes, and appropriate training solutions.
  • Build Courses: Build and format training content in Opus, including text, images, videos, knowledge checks, assignments, and other learning activities.
  • Design Content: Create course outlines, learning scripts, interactive content, and assessments that translate operational information into clear, engaging, and practical training.
  • Collaborate: Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather and validate content, clarify processes and requirements, and ensure training is accurate and current.
  • Review & Test: Review training for accuracy, clarity, consistency, instructional effectiveness, and functionality, including links, media, and assessments, before launch.
  • Maintain Content: Review and update existing training to keep content accurate, current, and aligned with operational and brand standards; correct broken links and other content or functionality issues.

Cross-Departmental Partnership & LMS Support

  • Serve as Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for departments requesting new or updated training content in Opus (Operations, HR, Safety, Marketing, IT, etc.).
  • Manage Content Requests: Guide stakeholders through the content-development process from initial request and needs assessment through design, review, build, testing, and launch.
  • Support LMS Administration: Support Opus administration, including course organization, catalog structure, user groups, and assignment rules, in partnership with appropriate system administrators.
  • Troubleshoot LMS Issues: Help identify and resolve course enrollment, completion, reporting, and content-related issues in Opus, escalating system issues when needed.
  • Apply Content Standards: Follow established templates, style guides, instructional design standards, and brand guidelines to ensure consistency across training content.
  • Support LMS Reporting: Pull and interpret Opus completion and compliance reports to support training follow-up, evaluation, and business needs.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

The role requires keyboarding, hearing, and verbal communication, along with frequent standing and walking, and periodic bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and mobility across uneven surfaces. This description is not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, qualifications, or working conditions; management reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
