Overview
Kimley-Horn, ranked as one of FORTUNE magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For, is looking for an Entry-Level Instructional Designer to join the Corporate Training Team in Raleigh, NC.  
 
Note:  This position will eventually relocate to our Cary, NC Office in early 2026.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for developing learning materials for in-person, virtual, and blended learning environments and managing internal training websites. The ideal candidate will have a mix of communication, writing skills, and visual design.  The ideal candidate will have a balanced mix of communication, writing, and visual design skill sets.
  • Understand and apply adult learning principles in learning content development
  • Create virtual learning content (e.g., eLearning courses, instructor-led/ asynchronous courses, job aids, microlearning content, etc.)
  • Develop instructor lesson plans, rubrics, and other teaching tools
  • Edit and proofread materials for grammar, format, style, accuracy, and consistency
  • Design graphics and other visual for training materials and websites
  • Write and edit content for internal training platform and team website
  • Collaborate with internal partners to maintain and upgrade internal training platform
  • Support other instructional design team activities as needed

Qualifications
  • Relevant Master's or Bachelor's degree in related field or
  • Associates degree + two years of relevant post-graduate experience or
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (or similar)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint or other website design platforms
  • Travel up to 5%
