LOCATION:  Remote – This is a home based, virtual position that operates Monday – Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm EST. Vaya Health welcomes applications from NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, MD, and FL.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Instructional Designer is responsible for working with the Learning & Development team to develop training content to assure delivery of a comprehensive training plan for the organization. The Instructional Designer will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and educate employees and other stakeholders. This position collaborates with subject matter experts located in various departments across the organization to develop training content for instructor led training as well as eLearning. Experience with Learning Management System (LMS) activities such as setting up courses, loading SCORM based training, and creating assignments is preferred.  Work is performed with considerable independence. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Creating and developing learning and support materials:
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
  • Apply best practice instructional design theories, practices, and methods such as ADDIE, SAM, Agile, etc.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product from the point of view of the learner
  • Provide graphics, exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
  • Design and deliver trainings through various learning methods (in person, virtual webinars, gamification platforms, performance support and e-learning) 
  • Develop training aids such as job aids, manuals, and handbooks
  • Develop and facilitate train-the-trainer instruction
  • Utilize Articulate Storyline 360, Rise, or Adobe Captivate to develop learnings for an LMS or another platform
  • Create courses for deployment within an LMS

Collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders:
  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify target audiences’ learning needs and develop robust learning content
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis of learners and contexts
  • Determine criteria and instruments used to evaluate and assess learners’ performance 
  • Learn and maintain an on-going knowledge base of Tailored Plan requirements
  • Use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to influence others without direct authority 

Leading and coaching others:
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to other members of the Learning and Development team

Project management:
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Education and adult learning, instructional technology and design, human resources, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.  
  • 1- 3 years’ experience designing curriculums and training
  • One year working in the fields of primary care, mental health, developmental disabilities, or substance abuse is preferred.
 
Preferred Licensure/Certification:
  • CPTD, CCM, PHR, SPHR, etc.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading. 
  • Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists and fingers. 
  • Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
 
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:  The person in this position must live in NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, MD, or FL.
 
SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is exempt and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
