Job Description
IEM is looking for a Full-Time- Instructional Designer to join our Training & Development team. They will be supporting the Training and Development Manager in developing new training materials, converting existing training into online formats, and updating existing training materials, the Instructional Designer will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other internal leaders/stakeholders to create and deliver engaging learning assets.
 
Primary Location: 
- Live anywhere within the United States.
 - Work in home/personal office environment. 
 
Travel Requirements:
- This position may require travel to complete work assignments or attend meetings.  
 
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with key stakeholders, departmental managers, Subject Matter Experts, and the internal Training and Development team to assess training needs and develop quality training materials.
 - Learn and understand required policies expediently as part of a small team to ensure an effective delivery of training material.
 - Collaborate with the team to prepare and present training delivery for live audiences, self-paced online learning, and hybrid/blended learning.
 - Be a creative and effective communicator to ensure training programs are well received by participants.
 - Measure training metrics and outcomes and analyze and report results within relevant systems of record to management and key stakeholders.
 - Develop or assist in producing classroom handouts, presentation materials, and manuals.
 - Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees' work behavior, suggest and develop materials for future training needs based on current programmatic outcomes.
 - Carry out general administrative duties, such as coordinating enrollment, scheduling class times and locations, and sending invitation information to all trainees and key stakeholders.
 - Ability to respond to and prioritize multiple and varied needs
 
 
Minimal Qualifications:
- Three to Five (3-5) years of prior training development and delivery experiences
 - Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, instructional design, or related discipline
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, adult learning methodologies, tools, and techniques
 - Experience developing training assets using some or all of the following software:
- Articulate 360 preferred (or other course authoring software)
 - Canva
 - Adobe Creative Suite
 - Microsoft Suite (particularly focused on PowerPoint and Word)
 
 - Graphic design, video production and editing, and experience with audio narration production and editing preferred
 - Knowledge and experience creating accessible training assets in a variety of formats
 - Strong background in using Microsoft Products, SharePoint, and specifically MS Teams
 - Adequate experience working with Learning Management Systems – Asborb, BU plus
 - Strong organizational skills, project management experience
 - Strong communication skills, including public speaking, leading remote meetings, responding to urgent needs promptly, and excellent internal and external customer service
 - Experience with webinar and virtual training platforms – MS Teams
 - Broad familiarity with Emergency Management, Federal/State Government regulations and policies, or other technical fields.

- Personal Office / At Home Locations: All personal office / in-home work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purpose of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.

- Annual salary based on location and experience: $70,000 - $74,000
